Chinese style broccoli salad with oyster sauce.

Oyster sauce is originated from Guangdong province where I am living now. And it is usually made with oyster sauce and salt. And it is widely used in Guangdong style mild dishes. Now there are vegetarian oyster sauce provided on the market, which is made from mushrooms (oyster mushrooms).

In China, oyster sauce can be used in stir-fry recipes for example, oyster lettuce and also in salad such as today’s oyster broccoli salad.Besides, oyster is widely used in marinating sauce for baking or BBQ recipes. For example pork belly roasted with oyster sauce.

Broccoli is widely considered as one of the healthiest veggies. And it surely is super yummy. In my memory, I did not have this healthy veggie when I was young. Back to 20 years, we were eating cauliflower. Then from some time on, broccoli becomes one of our favorite foods.

The most popular and common broccoli dish is stir-fried broccoli in garlic sauce.  And then next this oyster broccoli salad! There are always simple dishes that can save the time and simultaneously provide the yummy taste.

Ingredients for today’s recipe are really simple: broccoli, oyster sauce, light soy sauce, water and sugar. That’s all we need.

Then blend the broccoli in boiling water for around 1 minute. Do remember to drop several drops of oil and salt to keep the green color and crispy taste of broccoli.

Then prepare a sauce with oyster sauce, sugar, light soy sauce and water. Mix well and that's it!

Ps: I do not add starch in the sauce, but you can add some if you want to thicken the sauce a little bit.
